Our stay was amazing! Heather was so extremely helpful and welcoming from the moment we walking in the door. The Mansion is such a beautiful place. We loved looking at all of the architectural details. The continental breakfast was one of the best continental-style breakfasts we have ever had. Afternoon tea was a lovely treat as well. Heather is the world's best hostess! She treated us as if we were her most valued guests. She was so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I can't say enough nice things about her.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Frederick Mansion and words cannot express how incredible the experience was. Our hostess, Heather, was just AMAZING. She was attentive and her hospitality added a personal element to the stay that made it very special. The mansion was immaculate and opulent. It was like being given access to a living museum outside of visiting hours. We were so in love with the mansion and hose that we have already decided to return for our anniversary in the next few months! Cannot recommend this place enough.

We stayed in a gorgeous one bedroom suite at the Fred. The inn's host, Heather, made us feel at home the second we walked in the door and anticipated all of our needs. The mansion has been beautifully restored. There is so much to see with the antiques and elaborate decor and finishes in each of the rooms. We enjoyed the extras such as the fresh chocolate chips on our arrival and the afternoon tea. The breakfast was honestly the best "continental" style breakfast we have ever eaten. We have stayed at quite a few inns and B&Bs and the Fred is amazing. It's a beautiful place and Heather is the heart that makes it a home.

Authentic Victorian decor with modern amenities and service. Our host Heather was super! Friendly, helpful, and attentive. The continental breakfast was delicious with a wide selection of items. The home baked cookies were a thoughtful treat. Such a great experience. Thank you again Heather!

The mansion is beautiful. Heather was an attentive host who was flexible to our needs. She shared much of the history of the mansion with us. And dinner and tea at The Stegmaier restaurant down the block were both excellent. We will be back.

The Stegmaier is a hidden gem in Wilkes-Barre. An amazing experience. Heather is the ultimate host making sure everything is perfect. She made our dinner reservations at the Mary and made sure we ran on time. All the rooms were clean and decorated for the period. We would definitely stay again.

I recommend all go and check it out and enjoy. It is a great local treasure!

My husband and I travel a lot. We have stayed at many B&Bs. This was easily the best one! Beautiful mansion, outstanding service, and the [Mary] Stegmaier dining, only a few blocks away, was AMAZING! Don't look elsewhere.

My fiancée and I had the opportunity to stay at the Frederick in the presidential suite. Let me tell you something. What an amazing experience. The staff was incredible, hands-down one of the best experiences that Tammy and I have had. We're already thinking on another booking for a mother and daughter's getaway. Heather was amazing, super nice. She made sure we were treated like a queen and king.

We fell in love with the Fred from the moment we stepped into the establishment. From the beautiful victorian room, to the wine hour, personal tour, exquisite breakfast and exceptional hospitality provided by the lovely Heather, this was the best Christmas present ever. We definitely will be returning! Thank you for the wonderful experience of stepping back in time! We love you, Heather.

We travel often and try to stay in unique locations or venues when we do. I can honestly say the Frederick Stegmaier is by far the best place yet. Heather is an amazing host/manager. It is hard to find the words to describe how at home and comfortable she makes you feel. Our experience here was excellent, can't imagine how it could be better.

We were in awe of the [Frederick] Stegmaier from the second we pulled up. Walking through the large front doors was like a dream. The interior was so elegant and authentic. So many little details to look at we couldn't see them all in one stay. We felt welcome from the second we got there until the second we left thanks to Heather. It was the best hospitality that we ever received. We are already planning our return trip!

I really enjoyed my experience staying at the Stegmaier Mansion. Heather, the Mansion Host, is one of the most fun and delightful hosts I have ever met. She was super helpful in getting me and my boyfriend a reservation at the Mary and making sure that we had everything we needed. The rooms, food, atmosphere, and activities to do in the mansion are to die for. We had so much fun! I will definitely be booking another stay in the future!

We stayed in the Franklin suite. It was spotlessly clean with modern essentials. Walking into the mansion is like stepping back in time. Restoration work is well done. From the intricate woodworking, hand painted ceilings, and the stained glass. I loved the ladies parlor and the library. This living museum is a true credit to NEPA. Special shout out to Heather who saw to our every need. From tea time to wine down to breakfast. Our little getaway felt other worldly. If you're looking for a little respite, no need to travel anywhere but here.

Our stay during our honeymoon here was incredible! Truly the best experience we could have asked for. The mansion is gorgeous. There's noticeable consideration and care given to every space and decision. Also, Heather was the BEST hostess. Every day there was a special touch or gesture that made our stay all the more meaningful. Between helping us with reservations to top restaurants or making a special memory box with photos, Heather created the best stay for us. Amazing experience, delicious breakfast, and the best people! Excited to return!

There's 'staying at a B&B' and there's 'having an amazing life experience.' Our stay at the Fred was an amazing life experience. Heather is attentive to every detail of the stay, and there are wonders around every turn of the beautiful building. From an evening "wine down" to a thoughtfully curated continental breakfast, every moment at the Fred will feel like your needs are being met and expectations exceeded. If you love history, but also have a sense of modern luxury, the Fred is for you. 5-Stars all the way.

Absolutely a must when in Wilkes-Barre, PA area. Tremendous example of Gilded Age extravagance from one of the area's most affluent. The mansion is filled with original decor from The Stegmaier family. it's truly a step back in time to see how the 'other half lived' during the turn of the 1900s. The hostess could not have been any more welcoming and friendly. The pride she exhibits about the history and restoration of this mansion definitely makes me want to return. On this trip, we stayed in Frederick's room which has a kitchenette, full closet, full bathroom, and queen bed. The porch out front we enjoyed the night. Can't wait to head back!

We had a quick trip down to Wilkes-Barre for a concert and decided to book our stay at the [Frederick] Stegmaier Mansion. It did not disappoint! Heather was a wonderful host. This mansion has been lovingly restored and also includes all modern conveniences. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the Gilded Age history. 10/10 would recommend and we can't wait to come visit here again!
-Eric K.
I've been waiting for the Fred to open for over a year and it did not disappoint. Heather, especially, made the stay perfect. She was so helpful with everything and went far above and beyond. The restoration is fantastic. And the rooms are all different, from very ornate to just simple and grand. I can't wait to stay in every one of them on my next visits. I highly recommend this B&B.

From the moment you step through the front doors of the Stegmaier Mansion Guest House, there is an immediate sense of transformation, an elegance and calm that feels both historic and deeply welcoming. The mansion itself is exquisitely preserved, rich with character, and effortlessly transports you to a more gracious era while still offering modern comfort. What truly elevates the experience, however, is the exceptional hospitality unlike any other accommodations in Luzerne County, PA and especially in Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding cities. Heather, the manager, embodies five-star service in every sense –– professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring each guest feels welcomed and cared for. Her attention to detail and warm presence set the tone for an experience that feels personal rather than transactional. The [Frederick] Stegmaier Mansion is more than a place to stay; it is an experience. Thoughtful touches, refined surrounding, and impeccable service come together to create a stay that lingers with you long after you leave. It is rare to find a property that honors its legacy so beautifully while making guests feel completely at home. A truly memorable destination. -Lorie
Beautiful, serene, magical guesthouse. The Fred is a must! I was booked for one night and was so blown away I didn't want the experience to end and stayed for one more night (and I can't wait to go back with friends!). Heather and the staff were exceptional and so gracious and attentive to details from warm cookies, accommodating requests for a late check in, and a bountiful breakfast in a sun-filled room. From the moment you walk into the Mansion you're transported back in time, a time when you weren't just a passing customer, but a very welcome guest. The common areas are stunning, warmed by gas fireplaces and filled with memorabilia. The bedroom was spectacular and I felt like a queen, stepping back into another era, but with all the modern amenities. Can’t recommend more highly! Special thanks to Heather for all of her gracious hospitality, always going above and beyond to make sure every guest has a truly magical experience. The Fred has been renovated with love and attention to every detail, please do yourself a favor and try it! -Britta J.
My friend and I chose the Fred Mansion to stay overnight for our birthday celebrations. As we entered the gorgeous mansion, we were greeted by a lovely Innkeeper, Heather Groblewski! From the time we checked in to the time we left, our experience was beyond expectations. Our rooms were perfect, service was impeccable, and the food and beverages were excellent! We chose this place for its atmosphere and appeal for a very special celebration and Heather did not disappoint! We had a few hours before dinner at the Mary Mansion, so we had ordered an international cheese platter that was so delicious. We also had enjoyed exploring our glorious surroundings during the afternoon. Heather was very attentive to our questions and also to everything we needed to make our stay so very special, which was predetermined prior to our arrival! In the AM, the breakfast area is perfect with the sun streaming through the stained glass windows with a Continental Breakfast that had everything you can imagine with superb coffees and teas. Heather packed a snack for our trip home. Our overnight stay was just the beginning of many future stays at this exceptional B&B! We cant wait to return! Thank you, Heather, for everything and see you very soon! -Guest from Forkston Township
Wow, just wow! My wife and I were in town on a college recruiting trip with our daughter and happened to find the mansion on a Google search for places to stay. We could not be more pleased with our selection. Everything from start to finish was fabulous. We arrived earlier then anticipated, and dropped in unexpectedly hoping to just take a peak around until our check-in time of 2pm. Heather, may be the most gracious host we have ever dealt with. She dropped what she was doing and gave us an entire tour of the home. She was well versed in its history and background. From its stained glass, to paintings and numerous chandeliers, you could spend an entire day taking in everything in the house has to offer. She gave us some great pointers on the local area, advised us about 3 pm tea time and 5 pm wine down and some great dinner recommendations. This really kicked off our stay on a wonderful note. My wife and I went to lunch and explored the area a little bit and upon our return we found our room ready and waiting. It was very well appointed, spacious and welcoming. Prior to leaving for dinner we joined Heather down stairs for a complimentary glass of wine, took some fun pictures in the library and learned a little more about the home. The following morning, we were greeted by Heather downstairs with a great continental breakfast spread which more then exceeded our expectations. Delicious baked goods, mixed fruit, yogurt, etc and a coffee and juice bar. It was a great way to finish out, what could only be described, as one the best bed and breakfast experiences we have ever had! We will not hesitate to stay at the mansion in the future. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't take the opportunity to stay at this beautiful home with the most gracious host in Heather. Thank you again, Heather, for making our stay truly memorable! It truly was a 5 star experience! -Jay E.
TL;DR: Stay here. You will not regret it for both the ambiance and the service. Now for the details –– I am new to the area and was not familiar with the [Frederick] Stegmaier Guesthouse. We were looking for a place to spend our wedding night and 'the Fred' came up on our travel point credit card's accommodation list. As we read the rave reviews, it seemed like this was an easy choice, and it was! Our credit card booking shared that we should reach out if we would be arriving late (and we were). So, after sending an email explaining that we had booked the Stegmaier Suite (Room 1) and would be arriving after our wedding, I received a call from the amazing goddess of hospitality, Heather, to help plan our arrival. She took this 5-star experience to the next level. From the moment you walk through the front gates, you will feel taken back in time. The downstairs area is beautifully appointed, and I loved all the details, from the lyre (I think?) on the chaise in the alcove of the ladies' parlor, to the deep rich reds in the gentleman's room. Every where you look your eye will take in something unique! Our suite was lovely, with two fireplaces (non-functioning currently). We watched the snow fall through our windows as we lingered in the provided robes in the warm and cozy bed (thank you, Heather, for knowing we'd be exhausted and offering us a late checkout). When we arrived, we found vegan cookies in our kitchen (Heather really listens!). In the morning, we found the continental breakfast included enough vegan items to feed us for the week! If you have the chance to stay (you don't have to get married- go do a fun weekend away with a love or a friend!), please be sure to get a tour from Heather as well as she will point out so many little details. So much love has gone into bringing the Fred back to life; we will definitely be back! -I would be remiss if I didn't add one more note about the hospitality Heather infuses into the Fred- we were getting married outdoors and we had a risk of some very frigid temperatures. Heather was so gracious to offer for us to come take photos in the afternoon if it was too cold for us to remain outdoors. Truly, our stay at the Stegmaier made our wedding night a truly beautiful experience and we will be back! -Chelle
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this mansion inn. The recent renovation is nothing short of perfection, every detail feels authentically Victorian, from the ornate woodwork to the period-style furnishings and charming architectural touches. It’s like stepping back in time, but with all the comfort and luxury you’d expect from a modern boutique property. The inn itself is immaculate, warm, and beautifully curated, but what truly sets this place apart is the innkeeper Heather. She is, hands-down, the best hostess I have ever encountered. Her genuine warmth, attention to detail, and intuitive sense of hospitality made the entire experience unforgettable. From personalized recommendations to thoughtful touches throughout our stay, she made us feel welcomed, cared for, and completely at home. This inn is a rare gem, and I would give it more than five stars if I could. I can’t wait to return! -Lisa A.
I cannot express how amazing our stay was at "The Fred" during our recent visit. The property itself is an architectural masterpiece, beautifully maintained with meticulous care and attention to every detail. Our room was spotless and incredibly comfortable, complete with plush robes that added a luxurious touch. The breakfast the morning after our stay was lovely, featuring a wonderful spread that started our day perfectly. All of this was made possible by hospitality extraordinaire Heather. I truly cannot say enough glowing things about her—she is an exceptional hostess in every sense. Her communication was excellent from start to finish, and she gave us a thorough tour of the incredible property while sharing fascinating history that brought the space to life. Heather was extremely dedicated to addressing every request to perfection, and it's clear she pours tremendous care and love into everything she does for the property. "The Fred" is definitely in the best possible hands, and she is the perfect person to carry this special place into a new era of ownership. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend staying here! -Chris P.
